My minister told the congregation this true story about Neal Armstrong . Please, enjoy......it's funny.When Neal was a young boy, he was playing ball in his yard with some of his friends. One of the boys hit the ball and it broke a window of Neal's next door neighbors, Mr. and Mrs.Gorski. (sp?) Neal walked to the window to pick up the ball when he heard Mrs. Gorski say,"You want sex, you'll get sex when the boy next door walks on the Moon."Thus, when Neal walked on the Moon in 1969 and made his famous statement to the world, "One step for man, one giant leap for mankind." Also, he said,"This is for you, Mr. Gorski." which was only heard by NASA employees. They scrambled eveywhere trying to determine who was Mr. Gorski. Neal never told why he said this until years later when Mr. Gorski passed away

First Superman Comic Book

What happened to my comic books that I enjoyed reading endlessly day in and day out during my youthful years? Who was the comic book champion reader on the block....MOI? I soared through the air with "Superman"..my hero.
Oh,those were the days when I didn't need all this technology to entertainme..just give me a comic book. The "techno geek' was the friend who let you borrow his or her favorite comic.
Our lifestyles have changed drastically due to the onset of modern technology but a friend is still a friend.Please, return some of my comics books.Thank you,friends.

I have it. Do you suffer from it? I don't walk under ladders, skip cracks in sidewalks, say a prayer when I see a black cat and I hide on Friday the 13th. Don't ask me where? I don't think it's contagious but it does influence your behavior and those who wish to share you in their lives...sorry, family and friends. Thought...maybe, I've viewed too many Monk TV shows.
Surely,I'm not suffering from Monkiitis. Oh,well, being a little Obsessive Compulsive places me in the "norm" of today's society. On second thought, nobody has ever accused me of being NORMAL.

If Friday the 13th is unlucky, then 2009 is an unusually unlucky year. This week's Friday the 13th is one of three to endure this year.


The first came last month. The next is in November. Such a rare triple-threat occurs only once every 11 years.


The origin of the link between bad luck and Friday the 13th is murky. The whole thing might date to Biblical times (the 13th guest at the Last Supper betrayed Jesus). By the Middle Ages, both Friday and 13 were considered bearers of bad fortune. In modern times, the superstition permeates society.


Here are five of our favorite Friday-the-13th facts:


1. Fear of Friday the 13th - one of the most popular myths in science - is called paraskavedekatriaphobia as well as friggatriskaidekaphobia. Triskaidekaphobia is fear of the number 13.


2. Many hospitals have no room 13, while some tall buildings skip the 13th floor and some airline terminals omit Gate 13.


3. President Franklin D. Roosevelt would not travel on the 13th day of any month and would never host 13 guests at a meal. Napoleon and President Herbert Hoover were also triskaidekaphobic, with an abnormal fear of the number 13.


4. Mark Twain once was the 13th guest at a dinner party. A friend warned him not to go. "It was bad luck," Twain later told the friend. "They only had food for 12." Superstitious diners in Paris can hire a quatorzieme, or professional 14th guest.


5. The number 13 suffers from its position after 12, according to numerologists who consider the latter to be a complete number - 12 months in a year, 12 signs of the zodiac, 12 gods of Olympus, 12 labors of Hercules, 12 tribes of Israel, 12 apostles of Jesus, 12 days of Christmas and 12 eggs in a dozen.

Meanwhile the belief that numbers are connected to life and physical things - called numerology - has a long history.


"You can trace it all the way from the followers of Pythagoras, whose maxim to describe the universe was 'all is number,'" says Mario Livio, an astrophysicist and author of "The Equation That Couldn't Be Solved" (Simon & Schuster, 2005). Thinkers who studied under the famous Greek mathematician combined numbers in different ways to explain everything around them, Livio said.


In modern times, numerology has become a type of para-science, much like the meaningless predictions of astrology, scientists say.


"People are subconsciously drawn towards specific numbers because they know that they need the experiences, attributes or lessons associated with them, that are contained within their potential," says professional numerologist Sonia Ducie. "Numerology can 'make sense' of an individual's life (health, career, relationships, situations and issues) by recognizing which number cycle they are in, and by giving them clarity."


However, mathematicians dismiss numerology, saying it lacks any scientific merit.


"I don't endorse this at all," Livio said, when asked to comment on the popularity of commercial numerology. Seemingly coincidental connections between numbers will always appear if you look hard enough, he said.

Runaway Buns

Does anybody have crazy incidents happen to them like I do all the time?
Well, I went to Wally World today to shop for groceries and a few other items. For once, I remembered where I had parked my car. That was such a relief because it reminded me that..just maybe ....I'm not as close to entering "the home"as many suspect. Anyway, I placed as many of those infamous white plastic bags into the trunk as it would hold .....and it's a BIG trunk. I walked around to the side of the car to unlock the doors so I could put the other items in the backseat. Suddenly, I heard a gentleman's voice saying, " Lady, is that your basket rolling across the parking lot?" I looked up and shouted, ""Oh, my goodness, there go my buns." Like any "young lady " , who feared losing her buns, I started running across the Wally World parking lot to catch my basket..and my buns. I'm sure I looked as graceful as a woman of my young years can appear while chasing after a runaway shopping cart.
As I slowly strolled back to my vehicle. I shouted to the nice gentleman who didn't offer to assist me, " We needed a video of that." He politely replied, " I wish I had one." Thank you Wally World for a wacky day

Meet Molly

Meet Molly. She's a grey speckled pony who
was abandoned by her owners when Hurricane

Katrina hit southern Louisiana . She spent weeks

on her own before finally being rescued and taken

to a farm where abandoned animals were stockpiled.

While there, she was attacked by a pit bull terrier

and almost died. Her gnawed right front leg became

infected, and her vet went to LSU for help, but LSU

was overwhelmed, and this pony was a welfare case.

You know how that goes.

But after surgeon Rustin Moore met Molly, he

changed his mind. He saw how the pony was

careful to lie down on different sides so she didn't

seem to get sores, and how she allowed people to

handle her. She protected her injured leg. She

constantly shifted her weight and didn't overload

her good leg. She was a smart pony with a serious

survival ethic.

Moore agreed to remove her leg below the knee,

and a temporary artificial limb was built. Molly

walked out of the clinic and her story really begins

there.

'This was the right horse and the right owner,'

Moore insists. Molly happened to be a

one-in-a-million patient. She's tough as nails,

but sweet, and she was willing to cope with pain.

She made it obvious she understood that she was

in trouble. The other important factor, according

to Moore , is having a truly committed and compliant

owner who is dedicated to providing the daily care

required over the lifetime of the horse.

Molly's story turns into a parable for life in

post-Katrina Louisiana . The little pony gained weight,

and her mane finally felt a comb A human prosthesis

designer built her a leg.

The prosthetic has given Molly a whole new life,

Allison Barca DVM, Molly's regular vet, reports.


And she asks for it. She will put her little limb out,

and come to you and let you know that she wants

you to put it on. Sometimes she wants you to take

it off too. And sometimes, Molly gets away from

Barca. 'It can be pretty bad when you can't catch a

three-legged horse,' she laughs.

Most important of all, Molly has a job now. Kay,

the rescue farm owner, started taking Molly to

shelters, hospitals, nursing homes, and rehabilitation

centers. Anywhere she thought that people needed

hope. Wherever Molly went, she showed people her

pluck. She inspired people, and she had a good time

doing it.

'It's obvious to me that Molly had a bigger role to

play in life,? Moore said. 'She survived the hurricane,

she survived a horrible injury, and now she is giving

hope to others.'


Barca concluded, 'She's not back to normal, but she's

going to be better. To me, she could be a symbol

for New Orleans itself.

Da Man of Da Casa

This is Son..numero uno.."da man of da house."

A friend gave Son to me almost seventeen years ago. He was an adult cat at the time. So, he must be nearly tweunty -years-old..Okay, Son... I know....you're still a sweet kitty.

Son is very loving and devoted to me. He is much more affectionate than most cats. Well, he knows he is the "tiger" of the casa. You guessed right..he has me well-trained. I jump when he meowssss.

He has had various health problems for several years but he's still ..... "da boss."

He's my Son..my baby.

My Sweet Friend

My Sweet Friend
In memory of my sweet friend, Fayesy. She was devoted to me throughout our sixteen year friendship. Her kindness and love shown towards anyone that met her was never forgotten. Her pretty big brown eyes always seemed sad but her heart was full of joy.

I've been the proud owner of many dogs but Fayesy was the sweetest animal that I ever had as a friend. I brought her home one cold November day as she stood outside the school door where I was teaching. One ear turned up and the other turned down. Her cute ears stayed that way all her life. She brought warnth into my life that will glow forever.

The angels took Fayesy home on May 21, 2006 . She still remained gentle and kind during her illness with heart problems. I stayed close to her side for months.

I miss you, Fayesy. Mama will be with you in time. Son, Precious, Precious J. and Xena miss you, too. We will always love you
